Stitching & Samosas

In the lingering ghost-shadows,
This tapestry of long-gone industry
And distant echoes of expert fingers
Weaving, stitching, ribbon-making:
A church hall waits.

Here a group of strangers, brought together by threads
Stitched, woven, braided, bound.
Threads of conversation.
The threads of an idea.
Don’t lose your thread…

Like those before us, we weave, stitch, bind, talk
And share something of ourselves.
Find our common threads
And weave them into dreams,
Over tea, threads, cake and samosas.

Dreams of maker-spaces,
Of shelter,
Of craftivism,
And of a city rich in culture.

The Cart was at St. Paul’s Community Centre on July 13th 2017. The guest artists were Julia O’Connell, Edwin Aryee, Diane Wood and Laura Nyahuye.
